Howdy, Everybody!
Hope all are doing well, despite all that’s going on. Seems that 2021 is following in 2020’s footsteps, and not just chronologically. Well, in spite of it all, things are moving along at The SnK.
Our first Tax Free Purchase has been made!
Yeppers, we were able to buy seed without paying sales tax. May not seem like much, but we feel that it’s a great first step in becoming Non-Profit.
Federal Non-Profit status is currently in the works, and we’re hoping that it will be finalized soon.
Recent Sightings
While out recently, checking feeders and water spots, we saw numerous dear out and about. They seem to be doing well. Unfortunately, the wild hog are also doing well, as the hunters have taken a number, and the guzzler camera caught them rooting for corn from the feeder.
Fortunately, the hogs aren’t keeping the deer away.
Projects and Repairs
As usual, there are projects are repairs to be done, regularly. Currently an unused divider fence is coming down, as well as brush trimming, both as weather allow.
Recently, before the rain and wind moved in, we pulled down the Purple Martin gourds, so that Selena could clean them for the season.
As wildlife is, things get damaged (usually by racoons), so we had to repair a feeder solar panel on one of the feeders.
The other feeder didn’t seem to have thrown seed, so we had to open it up and check the timer, which seemed to have gotten off. Reset it, and it was working when we checked on it.
It’s not only critters that cause issues, sometimes it’s the weather. The solar charged main gate had to be addressed, as the battery had gone down. Pulling it, charging in the shop, and cleaning the posts took care of that.
Lots to Enjoy, That Doesn’t Require Work
There’s always beauty to enjoy, when tooling around The SnK. While out and about we noticed the Spanish Moss hanging on one of the old oaks. Can’t say I had noticed the amount before. Sure was impressive.
Although a lot of Texas had snow, The SnK only had rain, and rain it did. Cold winds too. Luckily, there was an abundance of firewood to enjoy.
Rain is a good thing, but sometimes there can be too much, and sometimes it comes at inconvenient times. Oh well, better than none.
Until next time, Peace!
