September’s SnK gate pic is in honor of the humming birds and butterflies who migrate through Texas this time of year.
The last month, or so, I’ve had the opportunity to sit in deer stands to help with our annual deer count here at the SnK. This gets us our doe tags for the hunting season.
I’ve also come to realize that these deer feeders are as much wildlife feeders as anything else. I enjoy sitting listening to the sounds of bobwhite, road runners, and owls calling, along with seeing many birds come to feed.
This unfortunately feeds some unwanted critters such as feral hogs and racoons, those are easily thinned out. Yes, unfortunately this is part of wildlife habitat maintenance.

My recent trip to The SnK, was eventful, to say the least.
Twenty Five miles into my drive, the tread on one of my 1965 Impala’s tires decided to let go. Talk about excitement. Luckily, the tire didn’t blow, but it sure caused some veering. Luckily, no vehicles nearby, and I was able to get off the highway.
Long story, short; I was able to get back to town, had 4 new tires mounted, and I continued my trek.
The rest of the trip was pleasant, and I pulled in safely. Shortly, I got to meet the new resident at The SnK, Selena’s “Little Buddy,” BizKit, as our Son Joe named him. Biscuit’s his name, playing and sleeping is his game.
Biscuit is quite the entertainer. He’s about a 4 month old bundle of fun. Didn’t take me long to get him to warm up to me, as ear rubbings were the trick. Sure was fun playing with him, and watching him run through the house.
