Some Exciting Sightings: April 30, 2021

Howdy, Everybody!

One of the blessings of The SnK is what can be seen here, be it blooms, grasses, rocks, or many of the wildlife that call The SnK home, or as a way point.

Over the years we’ve had some great personal sightings, especially deer, which never gets old, but it’s the unusual that’s really exciting, such as personal sightings of Bobcat, Ring Tailed Cat, Turkey, Bob White Quail, just to mention a few.

Game/Trail cameras have provided glimpses that we might not get in person.

Recent shots from the camera set up near the guzzler.

While looking back through recent pics, I found another pic of what looks like a small Mountain Lion. I was surprised to see another one. Notice the date stamps?

We’re really excited to see these pics, as we’ve heard of Mountain Lion on the place, but had never seen one, until now. Bobcat we’ve seen, but not these cats.

After seeing the first pic, we decided two things: 1. Adjust the angle of the camera lower. 2. Cut the bottom two runs off of the guard panel on this side of the guzzler. Looks like the cat would like to get to the bowl, so we figured it made sense.

The panels were installed to keep larger animals out, such as deer, hog, horses, but not smaller animals that are a bit too large to get through the panels.

We’ll be checking cameras soon, hoping to see more pics like these.

The next few pics were taken before we moved the camera closer to the guzzler.

I didn’t include any photos from the ground basin, but will add some later. I’m also going to look through other photos and see if I’ve missed anything of interest.

With that, I’m through for the evening.

Until next time, Peace!
